FLUM: "I FEEL SORRY FOR THE FANS"

After the 3-1 defeat at Erzgebirge Aue, the players and officials we spoke to in the mixed zone were openly critical of the performance.
Philipp Ziereis: "It's brutally disappointing. We came here determined to get a result but go home empty-handed again. We concede stupid goals again and we're left discussing the same issues again. It's hard to put into words so soon after the game. All in all, we didn't do anywhere near enough."
Christopher Buchtmann: "I'm not saying we're putting the goals in the net ourselves, but it's far too easy to score against us at the moment. We'd got back into it really after going behind, but then they score with a one-off and we're chasing the game again. We're performing well in training, but we have to replicate that on the pitch at the weekend."
Johannes Flum: "We didn't win the challenges that matter today. I can't say why that is so soon after the game. We're disappointed because we had big plans. The support from the fans after the game did us good. We have super fans and I'm sorry for everyone who came here and gave us such incredible backing again. I'm sorry we couldn't give them a win."
Robin Himmelmann: "We got caught on the break again today. It shouldn't happen, there's no point beating about the bush. Overall, we had problems picking up players and with the runs Aue's strikers were making. We have little to show for our good start to the season now. We have to sharpen our senses, there's not much time till Friday's game at Ingolstadt. We have to show a reaction there."
Florian Carstens: "It was nice to make my first start, of course, but we wanted to win here today. That was the objective. We practised the lineup at length in training, so I knew the patterns. I was still a bit nervous early on, but I settled quickly. In the end, it's the team performance that counts and we wanted to turn things round, which we didn't manage to do."
Director of sport Uwe Stöver: "We haven't been able to eliminate the issues that have come out of the last three games. What strikes me even more is that we're not showing the qualities that made us stand out in pre-season and the first few league games. We didn't coach or motivate each other from the outset and we let their goals get to us. I hope no one let their imagination run away with them after the friendly win against Stoke and the two wins at the start of the season. That's the grim reality and we have to pick ourselves up now – we can only do that as a group."
