Nehrig joins Braunschweig

With the Boys in Brown set to resume training on Sunday, the club has more transfer news to announce following the departure of Clemens Schoppenhauer. Bernd Nehrig has joined Eintracht Braunschweig for an undisclosed fee.

"Bernd Nehrig developed into an absolute leader during his time at FC St. Pauli," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "He placed himself at the disposal of the team and conducted himself exemplarily in what was a difficult phase for him. This is another reason why we agreed to his request to move during the winter break. We would like to thank Bernd Nehrig for his efforts on behalf of FC St. Pauli and wish him all the best for the future."

Commenting on his departure from the Millerntor, Bernd Nehrig said: "After five-and-a-half years I go with a heavy heart but am looking forward to the new challenge. I'm extremely grateful for the time at FC St. Pauli. I won't forget the positive feedback I've had from fans, staff and the team. A part of me will always be here and FC St. Pauli will forever have a place in my heart."

The 32-year-old made a total of 117 competitive appearances for FC St. Pauli, scoring three goals and making another six. He also served as club captain for the last 18 months.

Bernd, we wish you all the best for the future. You’ll never walk alone!
