GYÖKERES: " I TRIED TO SHOOT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE

Players and officials alike were happy to settle for a point after the 1-1 draw at Bundesliga relegated side FC Nürnberg on Sunday. Goalscorer Viktor Gyökeres was delighted to find the net again, though his joy was dented slightly by a missed opportunity.
Viktor Gyökeres: "It felt good to score but looking back on the 90 minutes we could have had more, including me. A point is OK, though we always want three, of course. I had a chance after their equaliser but was blocked. Perhaps I should have gone towards the ball more, but I had my eye on the ball and didn't see the defender coming. It was a bit unfortunate. Everyone thought I was offside when I scored and so did I at first. The ball came to me and I simply tried to shoot as quickly as possible. Thankfully, it went in."
Marvin Knoll: "I think it's a fair result. The football we played in the first half an hour was really good. Somehow, we dropped off after taking the lead and then they came at us with their power. We should have played a bit savvier, but Nürnberg have a lot of quality and eventually got the equaliser. We should have made it 2-1 after that, but they had some good opportunities and we had one at the end. It was a good away performance and we've taken a point at Nürnberg, but I would have liked to have taken all three because we came close often enough."
Daniel Buballa: "We got into the game really well in the first half. We were compact at the back and gave a team as strong as Nürnberg hardly any chances. We then got our reward for a good display. After taking the lead we were a bit too passive and tried to manage the lead. We'd have been better off keeping hold of the ball better. We effectively invited Nürnberg back into the game. We all knew Nürnberg were capable of creating chances. They're too good not to, though we were unlucky when they scored. Waldi tried to poke the ball away but it fell straight to one of their players. You have to say a draw is a fair result, however. Both teams had chances to win the game. With a bit of luck, it could have been us, but we have to be happy with a point away to Nürnberg."
Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "All in all, it's a game we can live with. We would have liked to have taken three points, which was definitely a possibility. It was nice to be back in Nürnberg and we deserved to take a point."
