FC St. Pauli secured all three points against FC Schalke 04 in a high-intensity contest in front of 19,950 spectators at the Millerntor on Saturday night. After a Guido Burgstaller brace had given his side a 2-0 first-half lead, Rodrigo Zalazar halved the deficit with a quarter of an hour left, but the Boys in Brown held on to spark unbridled celebrations at the final whistle.

Oke Göttlich was re-elected FC St. Pauli president by an overwhelming majority at the club's ordinary general meeting on Wednesday evening. The 46-year-old received 258 of the 263 votes cast and will thus serve another four-year term.

BOYS IN BROWN SEE OFF CHALLENGERS NÜRNBERG
FC St. Pauli won 3-2 at challengers FC Nürnberg on Sunday. Guido Burgstaller and Leart Paqarada gave their side an early lead in front of 8,479 spectators before Johannes Geis pulled one back for the hosts. Substitute Adam Dźwigała restored the two-goal advantage midway through the second half but Manuel Schäffler dragged Nürnberg back into on 72. The Boys in Brown held on, however, to return to the top of the table.

A busy week began with a trip to promotion challengers Darmstadt last Saturday and ends with another outing to a chasing side in Nürnberg on Sunday (13.30 CET). The Schultz XI aim to build on a decent performance against Sandhausen in midweek and return home with at least a point.

BACK ON TOP AFTER 3-1 DEFEAT OF SANDHAUSEN
FC St. Pauli celebrated their seventh home win in succession in the rearranged fixture against SV Sandhausen on Wednesday evening to return to the top of the table. Guido Burgstaller and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh set the Boys in Brown on the road to victory with two early strikes before Immanuel Höhn pulled one back in the second half. But Kyereh added his second 11 minutes from time to secure the points.
