NEHRIG: "WE ALWAYS STAND TOGETHER"

After the superb win at 1860 Munich we noted the post-match reaction in the mixed zone at the Allianz Arena.
Lasse Sobiech: "I always pick a corner before taking a penalty because you can never rely on the keeper going the wrong way. I'm obviously delighted. The goal was incredibly important because we had to come back. My joy at scoring the 1,000th second division goal is even greater because we took all three points. We played some very good football at times and defended very well, though we did allow them too much space in one or two phases of the game, as when we conceded the goal. We came back well after going behind. In the second half we defended very deeply, but we were fully focused throughout the 90 minutes and determined to achieve our goal."
Christopher Buchtmann: "It was hard work today. 1860 are a very powerful side but we pulled together after conceding the opening goal. We held our own with grit and bite and gave the right response. The second half wasn't a thing of beauty, of course, but that's what it's like when you're battling relegation. To win two games in a row was incredibly important."
Aziz Bouhaddouz: "That was three very important points today. We struggled to get into the game but we responded really well to going behind and deserved to go in at half-time in front. We hurt them in the second half and did a better job than we did at Bielefeld to come away worthy winners."
Bernd Nehrig: "1860's basic shape made it difficult for us. They have good individual quality but after the opening goal the space opened up for us. We ran at them better, got more into it and made better use of the space. In the second half we dropped back more and did everything we could to protect our lead. I keep repeating myself, but the win is the result of weeks of hard work. We gave our all and always stand together."
Philipp Heerwagen: "We took a while to get into the game but then we hit back in clinical fashion. We just need to make sure we don't let our opponents or the scoreline get to us. I keep saying that. We have to make ourselves independent no matter what happens and that's exactly what we did today. This win was tremendously important. We're absolutely delighted but I'm sure that as soon we're sitting on the plane everyone will already be thinking about Friday's game against Union. The Millerntor under floodlights – I've already got goosebumps!"
