Bednarczyk joins Zagłębie Lubin on loan

In another change to the St. Pauli squad, Jakub Bednarczyk has joined Polish first-division side Zagłębie Lubin on loan until June 2021 after the two clubs and the player reached agreement over a move. Bednarczyk, 21, arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in January 2019 and has made two second-division appearances for the club plus 23 for the Under-23s (3 goals, 2 assists) to date.

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Kuba has not had the playing time he was hoping for when he signed for the club. That could also be the case this season. A loan makes total sense to advance his development and we will keep a close eye on him and his performances in Poland."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "We have good cover in both full-back positions and the battle for places is fierce. It would have been difficult for Jakub to get playing time in the first-team squad this year, so it's a good solution for all sides for him to show what he can do on a very high level in Poland."
