KNOLL HAILS MORALE

After the 2-1 win at Arminia Bielefeld the Boys in Brown were quick to express their delight over a hard-fought three points yet critical of their performance before the break. We took down the post-match reaction.

Marvin Knoll: "We didn't defend well in the first half and didn't make the most of our opportunities on the break. We addressed that clearly during the interval. In the second half it was end-to-end stuff and a hard-fought second-division game. We knew we could turn the game round. The team showed great morale."

Florian Carstens: "We had to fight our way back into the game. We came out after the break determined to change things and play with more aggression and passion. Thankfully, we were able to do that by scoring two quick goals. We're pleased to go top, but it isn't over until the final day."

Mats Møller Dæhli: "We didn't play well in the first half. We had no presence at all. After the break it was better. We fought hard and turned the game round, which shows the character we have in the team. We also have a lot of quality in the squad. The introduction of Henk was the key  factor."

Robin Himmelmann: "In the first half we saw how you don't do it, in the second how you do do it. In this league you can't play football without showing 100% per cent aggression, but we reacted well today."

Director of sport Uwe Stöver: "The first half wasn't good. We gave Bielefeld too many opportunities. After the break our play had a bit more bite to it and we challenged for the ball better. When we're aggressive in the tackle, we know we're good at switching the play. We worked hard for the win in the second half."
