DYNAMO DRESDEN AWAY IN SECOND ROUND OF DFB CUP

FC St. Pauli were handed a trip to fellow second division side Dynamo Dresden when the draw for Round 2 of the DFB Cup was made on Sunday evening.

Timo Schultz's side progressed to the second round with a 3-2 win at third division FC Magdeburg, whereas Dresden defeated league rivals SC Paderborn 2-1 at home. The tie will be played on Tuesday, 26 October/Wednesday, 27 October, with the precise kick-off times for all 16 matches still to be announced by the German Football Association (DFB). There is nothing to separate the two teams in the league at the moment. With five matches played, both sides have ten points and a goal difference of nine for and five against and thus share third place in the standings.

"It's going to be an interesting second-division clash. Dresden are known for being strong at home and have made a good start to the season for a newly promoted side, even though they did lose for the first time in league against Paderborn today", said director of sport Andreas Bornemann after the draw was made.
