BOYS IN BROWN HANDED SAARLAND TRIP IN DFB CUP ROUND 1

FC St. Pauli will travel to the winners of the Saarland state cup competition in the first round of the DFB Cup (11-14 September). The draw was made in Cologne on Sunday evening.

As not all of the state cup competitions have been completed, 23 of the 64 first-round participants have yet to be determined. In FC Diefflen, FC Saarbrücken, Halberg Berbach, SV Elversberg, FC Homburg, TuS Herrensohr, SV Auersmacher, and Borussia Neunkirchen, that means the Boys in Brown have eight possible opponents. The final of the Saarland Cup will take place on 22 August.

Head coach Timo Schultz: "The chance of us not knowing much more about our first-round opponents than we did before was relatively high. Nevertheless, we're looking forward to the competition, which always has a special allure. The aim is clear – to go further than we have done in recent years. We'll now wait and see who wins through in Saarland. A tie against Saarbrücken would certainly be attractive after their great cup run last season, but I don't have any favourites – we'll take it as it comes."
