"THE DRAW IS OK IN THE END" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

After the goalless draw in the northern derby against Eintracht Braunschweig we noted the post-match reaction in the mixed zone, where players of both teams expressed their disappointment at missing out on the win.

Director of sport Uwe Stöver: "The fans saw a game with plenty of passion and effort from both teams. All we lacked was a bit of effectiveness and clinicalness in front of goal, two things you need if you want to pick up points in this league. We have to live with the draw."

Bernd Nehrig: "I'm proud to have made my 250th second division appearance today, though I'd rather have picked up a win. We showed good energy, were focused from the first minute to the last, and played well. In the end we lacked a bit of purpose, killer instinct, and luck, but to be fair we were lucky on two occasions as well, so the draw is a fair result. We could have taken a major step forward with a win but given the results elsewhere not a lot has changed in the table."

Philipp Ziereis: "I had to wait ages to make my return and it was all the nicer to do so at the Millerntor. I got into the game well, which was important after the long layoff because I didn't know how I would start. I'm pleased we could keep a clean sheet. We had the better chances and could have taken all three points, but the draw is OK in the end."

Richard Neudecker: "It was important to keep a clean sheet and we managed to do that. Every point is important, but we were determined to win today. In view of the chances we had, we could have done that. I'm delighted for Ziere. He held his own superbly and was a key figure at the back. We face a real battle at Kaiserslautern. They'll throw everything at it, but so will we."

Robin Himmelmann: "Both teams could have scored but overall the draw is OK. I'm pleased to have kept a clean sheet but obviously would have been happier if we'd won. We now have a crucial game at the Betzenberg ahead of us. There are lots of games between direct rivals in the next weeks."

Johannes Flum: "More was possible today, so to draw isn't a good feeling. You don't get many chances against Braunschweig. We created some but couldn't take them."

Yiyoung Park: "We played well and can be satisfied with our performance. We tried everything we could but have to settle for the point. We had our chances, but so did Braunschweig, and we were lucky when they hit the post."

Mirko Boland (Eintracht Braunschweig): "It was a hard-fought contest and both teams had opportunities, but I think we had the better ones. It was important to perform the way we did. We know it's always a scrap at St. Pauli, and we accepted the challenge. We have to live with the point."

Jan Hochscheidt (Eintracht Braunschweig): "We got a point away from home but had the chance to go away with all three. Whoever scored the first goal would have won it. The pitch doesn't allow the most attractive football, but it was still an interesting game for the fans."

Jasmin Fejzic (Eintracht Braunschweig): "The draw is good for our confidence, but we would have liked to have won. We hit the post twice and had more good chances. It was a high-intensity game. We go away with a point and will build on that."
