COORDES SIGNS PROFESSIONAL TERMS

Up-and-coming talent Luis Coordes, 18, has signed professional terms with St. Pauli. The club has agreed a long-term deal with the Under-19 player, who will be part of the senior squad from the 2018/19 season.

The versatile attacking player, who was born on 2 January 1999 in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, joined the club's youth section on 1 January 2016 after spells at Eintracht Norderstedt, Hamburger SV, VfL Lüneburg and MTV Treubund Lüneburg.

REACTION TO THE DEAL

Andreas Rettig, director of sport: ""This underscores our permeability and should serve as a signal for other youth players. Good performances get you noticed at St. Pauli and open up opportunities to become a professional player."

Roger Stilz, head of youth academy: "We don't simply want to say the youth are important, we want to do something about it. Luis is a player with distinct strengths. He's two-footed, very quick and full of tricks. His favourite positions are left and right wing. For Luis it's now about having a good season to ensure he has a good feeling when he moves up to the senior squad. He has the attributes needed to establish himself in the first team."

Luis Coordes: "I'm very happy to have signed my first professional contract with St. Pauli, a club where I feel total support. I'm looking forward to the future and would like to thank those in charge for their trust in me."
