BOYS IN BROWN TO HOST EINTRACHT FRANKFURT IN DFB CUP ROUND 2

The draw for the second round of the DFB Cup was made at the German Football Museum on Sunday evening. Former Germany international Christoph Metzelder pulled the teams out of the pot and handed the Boys in Brown a home tie against Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of October.

Frankfurt, who lifted the trophy in 2018, were involved in a cup thriller in the first round. Adi Hütter's Eagles came from behind twice to win 5-3 at newly promoted third-division side Waldhof Mannheim thanks to an uninterrupted hat-trick from Ante Rebic in the closing stages.

REACTION TO THE DRAW

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "You always hope for a home tie against a team you have a chance of beating. We got the home tie but we're up against a team who have been among the absolute winners in German football in the last two or three years. They nearly went down three years ago but since then they've been on the up and up and in 2018 they won the cup. It's a big challenge in footballing terms, but we have confidence in ourselves at the Millerntor, especially in a cup-tie when there has to be a winner. We're up for a cup battle and I'm looking forward to it."

Head coach Jos Luhukay: "I'm really pleased we've got a home game. Frankfurt were outstanding in the league last season and in the Europa League as well. It's an attractive tie for us and we're looking forward to a super cup game at the Millerntor."

Daniel Buballa: "The longer the draw went on, the closer we got to a derby. When there were only four teams left in the pot, all I wanted was a home game, and thankfully that's what we got. Eintracht Frankfurt are a huge challenge for us in footballing terms. Last year they powered their way to the semi-finals of the Europa League. We go into the tie as clear outsiders."
