Kyereh makes Bundesliga switch

FC St. Pauli have agreed terms with SC Freiburg for the transfer of attacking midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh to the Bundesliga outfit, who will be competing in the Europa League next season. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the transfer.

The 26-year-old Ghana international joined St. Pauli from Wehen Wiesbaden ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. In his two seasons with the Boys in Brown he made a total of 67 competitive appearances and was involved in 43 goals (22 goals, 21 assists). Kyereh also made the step up to international football during this time and has since played twelve times for Ghana.

Reaction to the move:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: Kofi arrived from Wehen Wiesbaden two years ago and has made outstanding progress. He's an international player now who is moving to the Bundesliga and looks set to be competing in the Europa League soon, which is an absolute success story for him personally but also confirmation of the work we're doing at FC St. Pauli. So while we're sad to let Kofi go, we're also proud of him. We wish him every success with SC Freiburg in the league and in Europe."

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh: This is an important step in my career. I'm looking forward to the new challenge at Freiburg, but it isn't easy for me to say goodbye. I had a very successful time at FC St. Pauli and met a lot of great people. The progress I've made here would not have been possible without my teammates, the coaching staff and everyone around me. I'd like to thank them for that and wish the club a successful future."
