BOYS IN BROWN HIT DOUBLE FIGURES IN OPENING WARM-UP GAME

FC St. Paul made a high-scoring start to pre-season on Thursday evening, beating the AWesA Allstars, a team made up of local sixth- and seventh-tier players from the local area, by ten goals to one at the Weserberglandstadion in Hameln. Sami Allagui (3), Richard Neudecker (2), Dimitrios Diamantakos, Christopher Buchtmann, Cenk Sahin, Ersin Zehir and Jan-Marc Schneider got the goals for the Boys in Brown.

Diamantakos opened the scoring after eight minutes. Local boy Buchtmann did the spadework, leaving the Greek striker with the simple task of tapping in. Diamantakos then turned provider for Neudecker, who netted unmarked on the quarter hour. Buchtmann made it three just two minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the box and Neudecker added a fourth and his second on 22. The Allstars played with commitment but were unable to carve out any opportunities against a focused St. Pauli rearguard. After a brief phase in which Markus Kauczinski's team squandered a number of chances Sahin finished off a solo run with aplomb to leave it 5-0 at the break.

Both coaches fielded completely different teams in the second half and after a rather sluggish start by the visitors Allagui shrugged off several challenges to complete the half-dozen for his side with a powerful finish in the 54th minute. The Boys in Brown dominated the proceedings in the ensuing period without creating any meaningful opportunities, but Zehir did find the net on 68 to make it seven following a corner. That broke the resistance of the hosts and Allagui (2) and Schneider took their team to double figures before the Allstars grabbed a consolation goal through Adem Avci the stroke of full-time to ensure both sides went home happy.
