KALLA: " WE COME AWAY EMPTY-HANDED AFTER A DECENT AWAY PERFORMANCE"

The Boys in Brown were left disappointed after the final whistle at Dresden despite putting in a decent performance. Here's the best of the post-match reaction.

Interim director of sport Andreas Rettig: "Huge compliments to the players. It was a great performance away from home and we were the better side for two-thirds of the game. We want to develop an attacking style of play, defend high up the pitch and in so doing dictate the play. I think that's what we saw today, so it's all the more annoying not to get our reward. The way their goals came about is frustrating but we only have ourselves to blame for the second. We can't give the ball away so cheaply. I had to laugh when the referee told me he gave the penalty for a raised hand. If a penalty is awarded every time a player has his hand up, it's going to get ridiculous..."

Jan-Philipp Kalla: "I wouldn't have given the penalty because the ball hit my body first and then my hand. If that's really a handball, it's a pity for every defender and basically for every player on the pitch who tries to move in a normal way. It was annoying for us because it put us at a disadvantage. Nevertheless, we played well over 90 minutes today and could have made sure the disputed penalty didn't matter if we'd scored more. Unfortunately, we failed to do that after the equaliser, even though the chances were there. We conceded after a mistake in the build-up and come away empty-handed after a decent away performance."

Robin Himmelmann: "To go home with nothing after 90 minutes here today is very annoying because we put in a good away performance with a team that have never played together in that lineup. We gave very little away, only towards the end really, which is normal because we opened up and threw everyone forward. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a second goal and so we'll get on the coach in a minute with nothing tangible."

Mats Møller Dæhli: "I think it was a very good away performance. We were aggressive in the tackle, our build-up play was good, and we had lots of situations going forward, even though we didn't have any really big chances. I had a good feeling throughout, but Dresden took advantage of a mistake by us to settle it with their second goal."

Dimitrios Diamantakos: "We kept a good shape but then had the penalty given against us and found ourselves a goal down. It wasn't a penalty for me. We played some good football after that, fought our way back into it and got the equaliser after the break. We had an opportunity to make it 2-1 but didn't take it. Dynamo then had one chance and scored. We tried everything but it wasn't enough in the end."
