With the international break now over the Boys in Brown welcome Fortuna Düsseldorf to the Millerntor on Sunday (kick-off: 1330 CET). As usual, we have collected some interesting facts on our forthcoming opponents for you.
Old boy Hennings unerring
Rouwen Hennings wore the brown and white shirt for four years before joining Karlsruhe in 2012. He then moved to Burnley in the summer of 2015, with whom he achieved promotion to the Premier League, albeit in the role of fringe player. Hennings made just three starts that season plus an additional 23 appearances from the bench. On 22 August 2016 – two league games and one cup-tie into the campaign – Fortuna announced the signing of Hennings on loan. The striker has scored five times in ten appearances so far, four of them at home and just one on the road.
Matchwinner Bebou
Ihlas Bebou, 22, is Fortuna's next-best scorer this term, with three goals to his name. Two of these strikes proved decisive, securing 1-0 wins over VfB Stuttgart in week 2 and Union Berlin on matchday 11.
Reliable Rensing
Fortuna goalkeeper Michael Rensing is in his fourth season with the Düsseldorf outfit and a mainstay of their defence. The 32-year-old shot-stopper has been beaten 12 times in the 12 league outings this term, a record is bettered only by FC Heidenheim, who have conceded just eight. Rensing has kept five clean sheets, with just Heidenheim keeper Kevin Müller ahead of him on six.
Sunday first at the Millerntor
Most of the recent matches between St. Pauli and Fortuna Düsseldorf have taken place on a Monday evening (seven out of the last nine). The 40th meeting of the two sides is only the fourth time the game has been staged on a Sunday. After three trips to Düsseldorf, the Boys in Brown play host to Fortuna at the Millerntor for the first time on a Sunday.
Home wins dominate the head-to-head record
The two sides met for the first time in the Bundesliga promotion play-offs in May 1971, with Fortuna coming out on top 3-1. That was the first of 25 home wins in 39 clashes. Nine games have ended all square, with the away team winning on just five occasions.
