Dźwigała handed contract extension

FC St. Pauli have elected to continue their association with Adam Dźwigała. Director of sport Andreas Bornemann has agreed terms with the 28-year-old defender on an extension of his current contract, which was due to expire this summer.

Dźwigała joined the Boys in Brown in December 2020 and has made 69 competitive appearances to date, scoring two goals and providing two assists. The defender had had spells at Portuguese outfit Desportivo Aves and various clubs in his home country of Poland before moving to the Millerntor.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Adam is an immensely important part of the team. He's absolutely dependable and always performs well when he's needed. His importance for us goes well beyond his backup role, so we're very happy to know he's remaining part of the team."

Head coach Fabian Hürzeler: "Adam is a model professional who does his utmost for the success of the team. He has his strengths not only in attacking the ball but also in his buildup play. With his flexibility and tactical nous, he's an excellent fit for our footballing identity."

Adam Dźwigała: "Hamburg and FC St. Pauli have become a second home for me and my family. I have the opportunity here to contribute to an ambitious setup and develop as a player, which is why I'm delighted we're continuing our successful journey together.“
