EMPEN JOINS ETSV WEICHE FLENSBURG

Nico Empen has left St. Pauli to join fourth-tier outfit ETSV Weiche Flensburg, it was announced today. The two clubs have agreed an option under which the 21-year-old striker could return to Hamburg, however.
"We've agreed to Nico's request for a change of air and will monitor his progress in Flensburg very closely," said director of sport Andreas Rettig. "An agreement has been reached with both the player and his new club by which we can bring him back at the end of the season or in summer 2019."
Empen joined our Under-17s from Holstein Kiel in summer 2012. He made the transition to the senior squad in winter 2014 and has made two appearances for the first team since then. The 21-year-old attacking player has also made 66 appearances for the Under-23s (13 goals, 8 assists).
