Amenyido: "In training you can see we're up for it"

With preparations underway for Saturday's home game against SC Paderborn, Etienne Amenyido took time out between the two training sessions on Tuesday to answer questions from the assembled Hamburg media.

Etienne Amenyido on...

…playing in the midfield diamond in the friendly against Kiel: "It's definitely an interesting position and a good one to play in. I felt comfortable there, which I think you will have seen. I'll play wherever the coach puts me. I'm ready to play there again if I'm asked to."

...the season so far and his targets: "I didn't have an easy start with the injury but I'm looking forward now. I've gone the first step and want to keep going. The first few games this year went very well for me personally but obviously we'd have liked to have won the derby. I want to improve my stats, I'm still a striker after all. I've scored two goals and made another but that's not enough for me. I want to achieve more and add another couple."

...the current run of four games without a win: "We're making progress every day. In training you can see we're up for it and full of desire. We're all convinced we'll win again soon."

...the recent ups and downs: "It was definitely a turbulent week with the euphoric win over Dortmund in the cup followed by defeat in the derby. We're looking to the future because there's no point in dwelling on it and blaming ourselves for what we did wrong. It's about what we can do right in future. I think we can be even more aggressive on and off the ball, and that's what we're trying to achieve. We also want to be more compact and pose an even greater challenge for the opposition."

...strike partner Guido Burgstaller: "Guido is a very good and experienced striker who you can learn a lot from, especially the runs he makes in the box, his assurance in front of goal and his composure. I watch how he plays and always try to pick up a few tips."

...the atmosphere in front of a maximum of 2,000 fans: "Every player wants more fans in the ground but it's not up to us to decide whether the situation allows for more or not. It's better like this than with no fans at all. No one wants that. Even when there's only been a few fans in, it's made a difference.“

...forthcoming opponents Paderborn: "They're a good footballing side who just lost a crazy game against Bremen. Paderborn have quality but we're focusing on ourselves and will find the means we need to take all three points."

...DFB Cup opponents Union Berlin: "Union are having a super season and in good form. It's going to be a tough game, but we'll look to take our chance. It's not something we're talking about at the moment, though."
