Farewell Zier, Buchti and Finn Ole! You’ll never walk alone!

Finn Ole Becker, who joined the club in 2011, Christopher Buchtmann (2012) and Philipp Ziereis (2013) graced the Millerntor turf for the last time in the 2-0 home win over Fortuna Düsseldorf. The trio were given a send-off in the ground immediately after the final whistle, but the club would now like to formally bid farewell to Becker, Buchtmann and Ziereis and thank them for a total of 30 years of service in the brown-and-white colours!

Finn Ole Becker (88 appearances, 4 goals, 6 assists)

When Finn Ole Becker joined FC St. Pauli at the age of 11 in the summer of 2011, he dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. He rose through the youth ranks and eventually made the breakthrough to the senior squad. The Germany Under-21 international made 88 competitive appearances for the first team, scoring four goals. Our ways are parting at the end of this season because his talent has not escaped the attentions of the Bundesliga competition.

Finn Ole, it's been a pleasure to accompany you on the majority of your career path to date. We hope all your hopes and dreams come true.

Philipp Ziereis (159 appearances, 1 goal, 4 assists)

Philipp Ziereis played for the club for nine years. On arriving from Regensburg at the age of 20, he had to be patient to make his second-division debut, but when the opportunity came in March 2014 in a 2-1 home win over Union Berlin, he immediately showed his potential. The defender became a mainstay of the team over the years and has been through almost everything there is to go through in the second tier. It was never an easy ride for Ziereis. He sustained a number of serious injuries but always fought his way back, going on to make a total of 159 competitive appearances for the club, 44 of them as captain.

Thanks for your service over the last nine years, Zier, and all the best for you personal and professional future!

Christopher Buchtmann (199 appearances, 20 goals, 22 assists)

Christopher Buchtmann fell just short of the 200-game mark. Sunday was his 199th first-team appearance in brown and white, a proud number that few others have achieved before him. Buchti always gave his all from the opening whistle, showing tremendous application and passion in every match, along with an excellent great technique, a cultured left foot, good vision, bags of ambition and a drive for goal. The latter saw him assist 22 goals and score 20 himself. If we had to pick one out, it would probably be the second goal in a 2-1 win at Kaiserslautern in May 2017 that 2017 that ended the club's relegation fears.

Thanks for everything you have done for the club in the last ten years, Buchti. We wish you all the best for the future!

You’ll never walk alone!!!
