FC St. Pauli and Stoke City FC discontinue partnership

FC St. Pauli and Stoke City FC have mutually decided to discontinue the formal partnership the clubs formed two years ago. The decision was made following recent talks in Stoke between Andreas Rettig, who retired as of September 30th, Ewald Lienen and the Potters’ Chief Executive Tony Scholes.

In issuing a joint statement the two clubs said: “The partnership has brought the clubs closer together and led to a number of benefits, including two pre-season fixtures, coaches and officials from both clubs sharing knowledge and many intangibles. However, after two years - and as a result of other priorities and a change in personnel at both clubs - we have mutually decided to discontinue the formal partnership whilst remaining on good terms.”
