FC St. Pauli continue to press forward with their planning for the new season and have handed Sören Ahlers a contract extension. The 25-year-old goalkeeper arrived at the Millerntor in August 2021, having previously played for FC Schalke 04's second team.
Born in Oldenburg, Ahlers quickly settled in at FC St. Pauli and plays a key role in the goalkeeper group as a highly proficient third-choice option. Since moving to the Millerntor, he has played ten times for the Under-23s in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nord. Ahlers is also active off the pitch and has been a member of the Kiezhelden fundraising board since February 2022.
