FC St. Pauli sign Danel Sinani

FC St. Pauli continue to strengthen their attacking options with the addition of wide man Danel Sinani. The 26-year-old Luxembourg international comes to the Millerntor on a free transfer.

Born in Belgrade in 1997, Sinani's last club was Championship outfit Norwich City, having previously had spells at Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town. In 65 appearances in England's second tier, he scored seven goals and provided six assists. Most of Sinani's appearances to date came at F91 Dudelange in Luxembourg, where he scored 46 goals in 99 games and made another 29. He was also on target in Europe – for example against Sevilla in the Europa League. Sinani has played for his country 55 times so far, scoring 11 goals and contributing six assists.

Reaction to the deal

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "In Danel Sinani, we are giving ourselves more options in attack. He's an experienced wide player of proven quality. Danel is very versatile and capable of playing in various positions. He's therefore exactly what we were looking for."

Head coach Fabian Hürzeler: "Danel Sinani has a great eye for his teammates, likes to take on opponents and finds space intelligently. He's also a good taker of set pieces and strong in the tackle, which means he can give us the turnovers that are important for our game."

Danel Sinani: "I gathered information on FC St. Pauli and received very good feedback, and the talks with the director of sport and the coach showed me that I have a wonderful opportunity to play sophisticated football here. I'm looking forward to our association and can't wait to get on the pitch."
