FC St. Pauli sign Amenyido

FC St. Pauli continue to progress their squad planning and have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of 23-year-old forward Etienne Amenyido from VfL Osnabrück. The two clubs have agreed not to reveal any details of the deal.

Amenyido learned his trade at Borussia Dortmund, rising through the youth ranks there between 2012 and 2017. After a six-month spell at Dutch side VVV Venlo, where he scored once and provided one assist in four appearances, he moved to VfL Osnabrück at the start of the 2018/19 season. Amenyido made a total of 67 league appearances for Osnabrück, contributing eight goals and five assists, plus three in the DFB Cup, scoring once. He also ran out twice in the Lower Saxony Cup, again getting on the scoresheet once.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "In Etienne we have signed the kind of player we need for our playing philosophy. He's an outstanding addition to our quality in attack. He fits our requirements very well and has enormous potential."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "Etienne is a versatile player and I'm delighted we've been able to get him. He's a forward with lots of pace who will enrich our system and is also highly motivated to take the next step in his development."

Etienne Amenyido: "I'm very happy to be able to wear the St. Pauli shirt next season. They played outstanding and exciting football in the second half of last season and I'd very much like to do my bit to ensure we continue on this positive path. At the same time, I know I have a lot of work in front of me and I think the Millerntor is the right place for me to develop my game."
