Roggow to join Borussia Dortmund II from next season

Franz Roggow is set to leave FC St. Pauli to join Borussia Dortmund's second team at the end of the season after five years with the club. The 20-year-old midfielder's contract with the Boys in Brown expires when the current campaign ends.

Roggow moved to the St. Pauli youth academy from Cottbus in July 2018. After spells with the Under-17s and the Under-19s, he made the transition to the senior squad in the 2021/22 season, but did not make any competitive appearances for the first team. Roggow played 31 times for the Under-23 side in the fourth-tier Regionalliga, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

Reaction to the move:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Franz has always been very motivated and willing to learn. In view of the fierce competition in his midfield position, however, he didn't get the playing time he'd been hoping for. I wish him all the best and lots of success on joining Dortmund."

Franz Roggow: "I spent five exciting and instructive years at FC St. Pauli that have improved me greatly as a player and as a person. I will always have fond memories of taking my first professional steps here. I wish FC St. Pauli all the best for the future and look forward to the new challenge at Dortmund."
