FC St. Pauli have agreed to let another player go just before the end of the transfer window. Attacking midfielder Maximilian Franzke has joined third division FC Magdeburg on loan until the end of the season.
Franzke, 21, moved to the Millerntor from Bayern Munich II in January 2020 after progressing through the youth ranks at Bayern from 2010. He has made five second division appearances for the Boys in Brown (1 assist) and another five for the Under-23s in the fourth-tier Regionalliga (1 assist).
Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: We're happy to have a deep squad with lots of options this season but that also means that not every player will get regular game time. I'm convinced Maxi will play a decent role at Magdeburg and take the next step in the third division. We'll continue to monitor his progress very closely, of course."
Maximilian Franzke: "I'm very grateful to FC St. Pauli for giving me the opportunity first to make my debut in professional football and now for giving me the chance to gain match practice in the third division over the next few months. I'm looking forward to the job in hand at Magdeburg and to returning to St. Pauli at the end of the season."
