HEERWAGEN: "NICE TO BE ABLE TO CELEBRATE WITH THE FANS TODAY"

Ewald Lienen's side secured a 1-1 draw against Greuther Fürth on Sunday. The dominant theme surrounding the final home game of the season was the successful battle against relegation. It was only natural, then, that the mood in the mixed zone was one of satisfaction.
Philipp Heerwagen: "Huge compliments to the team. After going in at half-time a goal down we came back well and created chances. Our winning run may have come to an end but six games without a defeat isn't bad either. After the season we've had it's so nice to be able to celebrate with the fans today. We now want to go flat out once more at Bochum and take at least a point."
Christopher Buchtmann: "It's a shame we didn't win. We pulled ourselves together in the second half. But overall you have to take your hat off to what the team have achieved, of course. It's been a great struggle by us all. We didn't resign ourselves to our fate. We can now go and enjoy the evening with the fans and the staff."
Bernd Nehrig: "Neither side is happy with the performance and the result today. It got a bit heated on occasions but that's part of the game. In what felt like 30 degrees on the pitch little came off for either side. We didn't hide after we went behind and at least we got a point. We can now enjoy the evening with the fans, whose support has been outstanding all season and again today."
Daniel Buballa: "The last few weeks have taken a lot out of us. Nevertheless, we wanted to give a good account of ourselves at home. We shouldn't dwell too long on the result. Greuther Fürth are a good side who move the ball around quickly and they put us under pressure well. It was especially important mentally that we got the equaliser. Our aim is to finish as high up the table as possible."
Lasse Sobiech: "It's a shame, we were keen not to send our fans home with a defeat. We never got going in the first half and struggled in our build-up play. The team showed character in the second half."
Sören Gonther: "The team showed character today, especially after this second half of the season. We had the desire and were determined to win the game. Clearly you can't outplay every team you face, so I'm happy with the 1-1 draw. We'll try to finish the season on a positive note at Bochum. We're not going five hours on the bus simply to lose there."
Aziz Bouhaddouz: "We wanted to sign off with a win for the fans but we simply didn't get into the game in the first half. You have to say Fürth are a really good team, even though they have some injuries to contend with. We can be satisfied with the draw but we'll give our all one more time next week at Bochum".
Robert Zulj (Greuther Fürth): "It was a superb atmosphere here today – and our many travelling fans played their part as well! We fought incredibly hard in the first half and had some good chances. Unfortunately, we tired as the game wore on and St. Pauli were able to equalise. Goals like that can happen. On account of the first half we were worth more than just a point."
