GLÖCKNER APPOINTED SECOND ASSISTANT COACH

St. Pauli have added the final piece to their coaching team with the appointment of Patrick Glöckner as second assistant coach to Olaf Janssen. The 40-year-old has agreed a two-year deal that ties him to the club until 30 June 2019.

"I'm delighted our coaching team is now complete and I'm sure Patrick will fill the existing gap perfectly," said head coach Janssen. "I've known him for ages. We played together at Eintracht Frankfurt. We never lost touch and have often philosophised about the game. Patrick gained his coaching badge with aplomb earlier in the year and is one of the new breed of hungry coaches, which will be of great benefit to me and Markus Gellhaus."

Glöckner sees the move to the Millerntor as the next step in his career: "I'm especially delighted that my first job as a coach takes me to St. Pauli, and not just because it allows me to coach a second division team for the first time alongside my former teammate Olaf Janssen and Markus Gellhaus. St. Pauli are known beyond the borders of Germany. I'm sure I can learn a lot here and develop accordingly."

The 40-year-old native of Bonn has previously worked as assistant coach of FSV Frankfurt's second team and was head coach at JFC Frankfurt before serving as assistant coach to the Under-19 and second teams of Eintracht Frankfurt. Before becoming a coach Glöckner played professionally for Stuttgarter Kickers, Eintracht Frankfurt, Kickers Offenbach and FSV Frankfurt.
