Guilavogui to return to RC Lens

Morgan Guilavogui is leaving FC St. Pauli. The Boys in Brown signed the striker on loan from RC Lens before the start of last season and then made use of an option in the contract to make the deal permanent. As the French top-division club then exercised its own option to buy the player back within the time allowed, however, the 27-year-old Guinea international will now return to France.

Guilavogui made 25 Bundesliga appearances in the season just ended, scoring six goals and making another two. He also featured twice in the DFB Cup, contributing one goal and two assists.

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: “The plan we pursued with Morgan before the season worked very well. He slotted in outstandingly well, both in footballing terms and as a person. In view of the performances he put in, we would have liked to keep him here. We put that on record by exercising the purchase option, but because Lens had an option to buy him back, the final decision on Morgan’s future was out of our hands.”
