HAPOEL TEL AVIV TO GUEST ON PRE-SEASON LAUNCH DAY

FC St. Pauli can look forward to attractive opposition on pre-season launch day when Hapoel Tel Aviv guest at the Millerntor. The two sets of fans have maintained a close friendship for many years.

"Moin" and "Shalom!" will be the greetings exchanged at the Millerntor when FC St. Pauli kick-off the pre-season campaign against Hapoel Tel Aviv on 22 July (15.00 CET) in the traditional Israeli club's centenary year.

Hapoel (Hebrew for worker) are one of the most successful clubs in Israel, boasting 13 championship titles and 16 cup victories. They play their home games at Bloomfield Stadium, which seats 29,400 spectators and is located in the south of Tel Aviv. The club has its origins in the Israeli labour movement and is a member of the Hapoel Sport Association.

Fans and ultras of the two clubs have been friends for a number of years and have often visited each other. Contacts have also been established on trips made by the St. Pauli fan project with groups of young people to the Israeli metropolis on the Mediterranean coast.

Officials of both clubs are now all the more delighted that it has been possible to organise a match at the Millerntor. "It promises to be a really good atmosphere on pre-season launch day," said club president Oke Göttlich, "not only during the game but also outside the ground. A programme of activities will be organised on the stadium forecourt, with more details, including ticket information, to be announced in due course.
