KYEREH: "I JUST SMASHED IT INTO THE NET. JOB DONE"

Get in! It may come as a surprise, but head coach Timo Schultz and his players were delighted with the outcome of the cross-city derby. The same cannot be said of the visitors. Here's the post-match reaction.

Head coach Timo Schultz: "I told the lads not to score the decisive goal too early. It was a lively game with chances at both ends. That's how you want it in a derby. Both sides went for it from the off and we had an early wake-up call with Kittel's free-kick against the bar. It was attractive stuff from both teams in the first half. After the interval, both teams defended better. There were fewer chances, though HSV were incredibly dangerous from set plays. At the end we found the lucky punch. I think we earned it. When you score in the 88th minute, that's the reward for your hard work. The feeling of having won for the fans makes it a very important win. But we still only get three points for it."

Daniel-Kofi Kyereh: "The feeling is indescribable. It hasn't sunk in yet and I'm absolutely delighted. We deserved it. We threw ourselves into the tackles throughout. The second half was wild. There were lots of free-kicks and fouls. Guido said we'd get another chance and I felt the same. It came off and that's outstanding, of course. It was great play by Rodrigo before the goal. I'll believe Luca that he saw me and I speculated a bit. I didn't think too much when the ball came to me, I just smashed it into the net. Job done."

Guido Burgstaller: "There's nothing better for the club and it's a superb win for the fans. It was a magnificent strike by Kofi, but that's what makes him stand out. It was a hard-fought contest full of emotion, so we're very happy to have won today.“

Philipp Ziereis: "The first one was a clear yellow card. I had to go off after that because there was a risk of us going down to ten men. It speaks for us that we end up winning games like that. We made things very difficult for HSV. They were the better side early on, but we came into it well after that. Not a lot happened in the second half. In the end it was a lucky punch and pure joy. We received lots of messages from the fans before the game and it's absolutely fantastic for them that we've won the derby again. I think the fans will really enjoy that one."

Tim Leibold (HSV): "It's a huge disappointment. We played really well and made our presence felt in the tackles. We could have taken the lead in the first half. It was an open game for long periods after that but we were asleep for the second ball."

Sven Ulreich (HSV): "We're very disappointed because we had big ambitions. You saw that today. We threw everything at it. We didn't have any clear-cut opportunities in the second half, but at the end we have to keep things tight and go home with a point. We wanted to give something back to the fans so it's a huge disappointment, but we'll keep going."

HSV coach Daniel Thioune: "It's so disappointing. The lads don't have their heads very high, which tells you a little how the game went. I can't fault my team's passion. We were involved from the first minute and didn't get our reward. The game opened up as the first half wore on and St. Pauli had a couple of attempts on goal. We weren't quite as incisive in our play, but I felt we were looking to strike. Then came a moment where we thought nothing much was going to happen anymore and we conceded, which isn't a good feeling. Anyone who knows us knows we'll have to deal with it first but that we'll pick ourselves up again."
