KAUCZINSKI: "I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ALM"

In the run-up to Sunday's outing at Arminia Bielefeld, head coach Markus Kauczinski took plenty of time out to talk about the game to the Hamburg media. Among the topics discussed were the lessons from the Kiel match, the opposition and the clash at the Alm.

Even though last weekend's performance against Holstein Kiel was more than respectable, the Boys in Brown have been given a clear assignment for Sunday's game by their coach. "We have something to make up for after the Kiel game," Kauczinski said. "Everything was OK as far as our play was concerned, but we failed to take our chances and that's what cost us the game. I'm sure we'll do better on Sunday. If we continue to play the way we have been and show courage, we've got a very good chance."

Arminia will have something to say about that, of course. "Bielefeld aren't having an easy time of it this season but they're still a good team," the St. Pauli boss continued. "In Fabian Klos and Andreas Voglsammer, they have great quality in attack. They haven't found the perfect system yet, however, which makes them difficult to predict. We've gone through all the possible scenarios and we're ready. I'm not worried. On the contrary, I'm looking forward to the Alm."

A number of players are ruled out of the quest to take all three points on Sunday. "Christopher Buchtmann is making good progress but won't resume full training until next week, while YiYoung Park and Waldemar still need a bit more time before they're fully functional," said Kauczinski. "As for Luca Zander, we'll have to see what condition he's in, he's been out for a while, after all."

So what will it come down to on Sunday? "We have to maintain a good shape and keep probing and by doing so swing the game in our favour," concluded Kauczinski. "We all know it's going to be a hard-fought contest. Getting the goal at the right moment will be crucial."
