"WE BATTLED TO A DESERVED WIN" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

After Tuesday's 1-0 win at newly promoted Holstein Kiel, the third away win of the season, we noted all the post-match reaction for you.

Bernd Nehrig: "After a game like the one against Ingolstadt it should come as no surprise that not everything gelled football-wise. We wanted to prove to ourselves and the fans that we can play differently – and we did that tonight. We paid no attention to what happened during the warm-up and simply focused on the game."

Lasse Sobiech: "We're delighted to take the three points home with us. It was good the game came just three days after the 4-0 defeat rather than a week later. It's an eye-opener when you suffer a setback like that and today we were good at doing the things we set out to do."

Johannes Flum: "I'm always under a bit of pressure when Buchti goes one in front (laughs). No, seriously, I'm delighted to score, of course. It might not have been a good game in the second half but not many teams win at Kiel. It was an important step forward for us. We were determined to show a reaction after the heavy defeat against Ingolstadt and that's what we did."

Richard Neudecker: "It doesn't get any better. We fought very well. Not everything we tried came off, but we battled our way to a deserved win. If you don't give your opponents any space, it gets more and more difficult for them. Kiel pushed us to the limit and played very well, so we had to work hard."

Christopher Avevor: "I enjoy every game, especially when I can defend against mates such as Duckschi. It's fun! We wanted to stay focused at the back in the opening stages and keep things simple. We managed to do that and eventually came away with a clean sheet and a win."

Robin Himmelmann: "It was very hard to defend against at the end. Kiel brought on some big lads in Seydel and Peitz. I didn't see the ball at the end until late. I thought about punching it to the side but I was so confident I decided to catch it. We'll recover well now to make sure we have eleven fresh players on the pitch against Fortuna Düsseldorf."

Dominic Peitz (Holstein Kiel): "It's no problem for Holstein Kiel to lose a game occasionally. We're still a newly promoted side. We've been scoring lots of goals every week, so it's a compliment for us if our opponents defend very deep."

Marvin Ducksch (Holstein Kiel): "We tried to play our usual game. St. Pauli played well from the opening minute and took the fight out of us. We threw everything at it in the second half but unfortunately we couldn’t do anything about the result."
