LUHUKAY: "IT'S NOT ABOUT YOUNG OR OLD - IT'S ABOUT HOW YOU PERFORM"

The Boys in Brown go to VfL Bochum on Friday evening (18:30 CET). At the virtual press conference ahead of the game, head coach Jos Luhukay spoke about…

…the personnel situation: "James Lawrence and Daniel Buballa are ruled out but all the other players who were in the squad are available to play. The four players previously sidelined remain so."

…opponents Bochum: "Bochum have shown a lot of stability, especially since the end of the coronavirus break. They're a team with bags of quality who ooze assurance and haven't lost in five games."

…rotation: "I won't make a decision on the team until tomorrow."

…the coronavirus situation: "It's not normal and you don't get used to it either. When matchday comes around, you have to be fully focused to perform to your best. We need that desire to be successful."

…the results since the restart: "We've had four games and won one, drawn two and lost one. In results terms, it's not too bad, but we could have had more. If James Lawrence's header goes in just before the end against Heidenheim, we win two out of four games. If Johannes Flum takes his chance at Karlsruhe, we win three out of four. It all comes down to details. Our record in the last four games hasn't been bad."

…the key to success: "We need to show ultimate resolve at the back and be more effective up front. It's quite simple actually. We didn't defend well against KSC because we allowed a player to run into the box. That's what I mean by resolve."

…the difference between home and away games: "The main difference is the travelling with the team the day before the game. There's no difference at the ground, the stands are always empty. We had the coronavirus tests this morning, we train in a bit and after that we go to Bochum on several buses. That's our preparation for tomorrow. The players are prepared for it, though, because we've done it four times now and have got used to it."

…the young players in the squad: "When I look forward to tomorrow's game, I'm only interested in how people performed in our last game and how they've been in training. Every player in the squad has the right to play whether they're 19 or 32. I don't look back. It's not about young or old - it's about how you perform."
