Knoll joins MSV Duisburg

Marvin Knoll is departing FC St. Pauli to join MSV Duisburg. The 31-year-old defender left the Benidorm training camp on Thursday for contract talks with the third-division outfit. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the transfer.

Knoll joined the Boys in Brown from Jahn Regensburg at the start of the 2018/19 season and made 72 competitive appearances for the club, scoring six goals and making another 13. He had previously made 118 appearances for Regensburg in a three-and-half-year spell (11 goals, 11 assists).

Reaction to the move:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "We're very grateful to Marvin for his efforts on behalf of FC St. Pauli. In an unsatisfactory situation for him personally he always conducted himself in exemplary fashion and did his utmost for the success of the team.We let Marvin know early on that it would be difficult for him to get playing time this season and would like to wish him all the best for his new assignment at MSV Duisburg and the rest of his career."

Marvin Knoll: "It was an honour for me to wear the St. Pauli shirt. I'll never forget my time in Hamburg and the fans and club will always have a place in my heart. I'm very grateful to have been a part of it. The entire team has been superb this season and I hope the campaign ends as successfully as it began."
