Marvin Senger joins third-division MSV Duisburg

Another departure for FC St. Pauli: centre-back Marvin Senger has joined MSV Duisburg of the third division. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the transfer.

Senger joined the club's youth setup from Eintracht Norderstedt in the summer of 2016. Starting in the Under-17s, he rose through the ranks and eventually made his professional debut on matchday 30 of the 2019/20 season. In total, he made four senior appearances for the Boys in Brown. Senger joined FC Kaiserslautern on loan in February 2021 and went on to make a total of 23 competitive appearances (1 goal) for the Red Devils.

Reaction to the move

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Marvin has been very motivated and professional since his return from Kaiserslautern, where things did not go as he had hoped in the second half of the 2021/22 season. Nevertheless, we have a number of options in central defence and it would have been difficult for us to offer Marvin the playing time he would want, so switching to the third division is definitely the best option for him to start afresh. We wish him every success and all the best in his endeavours."

Marvin Senger: "I spent three-and-a-half very enjoyable years at FC St. Pauli, during which time I developed as a footballer and as a person and ultimately fulfilled my dream of making my professional debut. I’m very grateful to the club for that opportunity. Although I'll be playing for MSV in future, I'll continue to follow the club's progress and I wish the team all the very best."
