MEDIĆ SIGNS FOR AJAX

FC St. Pauli and Ajax have agreed terms over a transfer of Jakov Medić with immediate effect. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the deal.

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann wished Medić all the best at his new club and thanked him for the last two years. For Bornemann, the interest of top-flight clubs in St. Pauli players is confirmation of the strategy of signing and developing young and ambitious players with the aim of taking the club to the next level both in footballing and financial terms.

Medić thanked his teammates, the coaching team and the club staff for a fantastic time in Hamburg and the trust they placed in him: “I was able to develop as a player and as a person in a very professional and ambitious environment. The support of the fans was very special and I’ll be sure to come back to the Millerntor regularly in future. But now I have the opportunity to take the next step in my career after our successful start to the season with the win at Kaiserslautern, which is a wonderful way to sign off.“

The Boys in Brown excused Medić from training on Friday to allow him to negotiate personal terms with the Dutch club. The 24-year-old centre-back moved to the Millerntor from Wehen Wiesbaden in 2021 and made 65 appearances for the club, contributing eight goals and two assists.
