FC St. Pauli have dismissed director of sport Thomas Meggle with immediate effect. The decision was taken due to differences of opinion regarding the strategic direction of the club.
"FC St. Pauli have much to thank Thomas Meggle for," said club president Oke Göttlich. “He played a key role in avoiding relegation two years ago and the upturn in fortunes on the pitch last season. Nevertheless, differences arose over the strategic direction in the area of football that led to us making this decision. Thomas is still always welcome at the Millerntor.”
Thomas Meggle, who had previously served the club as player, assistant coach, Under-23 coach and head coach, replaced Rachid Azzouzi as director of sport in December 2014.
The club will comment on the future composition of the football management team at a press conference in the next few days.
