MØLLER DÆHLI TO JOIN KRC GENK SUBJECT TO A MEDICAL

The Boys in Brown commence their preparations for the second half of the season with a change in the squad. Midfielder Mats Møller Dæhli is leaving the club at his own request and will join Belgian top-division club KRC Genk with immediate effect subject to a medical.

"Mats came to us and expressed the desire to try something new after three years with the club," said director of sport Andreas Bornemann. He gave us a clear signal that he wanted to take the chance to play in Europe in future, which is why we agreed to his request to join a top-division club in Belgium. Financial considerations also played a role in the transfer, as Mats could have moved on for a much lower fee in summer under a clause in his contract, which was due to run until June 2021. Mats has given us great service and we wish to thank him for that and wish him all the very best for his future career."

"FC St. Pauli was my life for three years," said Møller Dæhli. "I'm so proud to have played for this club. I'll never forget the Millerntor – the faces when we won, the respect when we lost. Thanks for every game! But it's time for me to go now and I'd like to stress that it was my decision, a decision for a new sporting challenge."

The Norway international arrived at the Millerntor from SC Freiburg in January 2017, initially on loan, before signing a three-year contract in June 2018. Since then he has made 86 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing 15 assists.

Mats, we wish you all the best personally and professionally! You're welcome to stop by the chess section for a game at any time! YNWA!!!
