There's no let-up on the injury front at the moment. After the loss of Cenk Sahin (MCL tear) and Christopher Avevor (inflamed knee) and long-term casualties Ryo Miyaichi and Philipp Ziereis, the Boys in Brown will now have to make do without Aziz Bouhaddouz and Marc Hornschuh. Bouhaddouz has a tight calf, while Hornschuh is labouring with a painful back injury.
Aziz Bouhaddouz sustained the injury while warming up for Morocco's friendly against South Korea last Tuesday and has been restricted to a personalised training routine ever since. "We don't want to take any risks with Aziz and will ease him back in gently," said head coach Olaf Janßen. "We hope he'll be able to resume running work at the weekend but can't say for definite when he'll return to full training." The striker is definitely ruled out of the games against Sandhausen and Aue, however.
A return to training is a long way off for Marc Hornschuh at the moment. The centre-back has been struggling with a back injury since being subbed off in the home game against Ingolstadt on 16 September. He has been in constant pain and is undergoing extensive examinations at the Endo Rehab Clinic. The next steps will depend on the diagnosis.
