BOYS IN BROWN BEAT NIENDORF 3-2 IN FRIENDLY

FC St. Pauli won 3-2 in a friendly at Niendorfer TSV on Wednesday evening. Brian Koglin (11'), Cenk Sahin (21') and Henk Veerman (43') got the goals for the Boys in Brown.

The fifth-tier outfit made a bold start and forced three corners in the first few minutes. And they got their reward early when Dominik Boettcher gave them the lead in the 11th minute. Markus Kauczinski's side responded immediately, equalising moments later when Brian Koglin headed home from Bernd Nehrig's corner. The Boys in Brown began to impose themselves and in the 21st minute Ryo Miyaichi sent the advancing Cenk Sahin on his way and he had little trouble finding the net with a neat lob to make it 2-1.

Niendorf refused to be cowed by a series of brown-and-white raids and were back on level terms when Oliver Doege converted a right-wing cross on 34 minutes. The game shifted back into the home side's half after that and the Boys in Brown restored their advantage just before the break when Henk Veerman forced his way through the NTSV penalty box and netted to give his team a 3-2 half-time lead.

Kauczinski's charges hit the ground running after the restart and fashioned a great chance for Florian Carstens on 49. A string of substitutions by the St. Pauli boss increasingly took the flow out of the game after that, however, and with the exception of two opportunities for Ryo Miyaichi both defences gave little away, ensuring the game ended 3-2.

Speaking after the game, Kauczinski said: "It was a good training session for the lads in front of a good crowd. You can do things better, of course, and overall we would have expected a bit more, but it was still a good session."
