The mood in the camp after the draw with Kaiserslautern was a mixture of disappointment and confidence. While the performance gave grounds for optimism for the matches to come, the players were left to rue their missed opportunities.
Waldemar Sobota: "Today we showed belief, energy and desire. You saw we wanted to play football. It's a shame it stayed 0-0 because we had the chances to go in front. The support was superb. We'll take the positives from the 90 minutes."
Aziz Bouhaddouz: "We had the game under control for long periods because we fought and ran hard from the first to the last minute. It's obviously disappointing not to take all three points. Looking back, I could have a got a goal or two. If we continue like this we'll start getting the results, I'm sure of that."
Sören Gonther: "We take a lot of positives from the game. The players gave their all and pressed the ball and the opposition. We don't need to discuss the penalty too long. I wanted to cut off the inside line and unfortunately I caught him. When Heerwi came on, I was in no doubt that the ball wouldn't go in. Philipp was superb today and gave the team lots of stability. Overall, you can say we started trying to play better football in the second half at Heidenheim and continued that today against FCK. Next week we have a tough game at Fürth but obviously we want to get a result there."
Lasse Sobiech: "If we'd taken points like that in recent weeks, we'd be in a better position now. If you look at the chances we had, it's very frustrating, of course. We're not fighting for one person, we're fighting for the team and the club."
Robin Himmelmann: "I felt a twinge as early as the 20th minute after a backpass but thought I'd give it another go. It didn't get any better, though, and I couldn't carry on when the penalty happened. I don't know how bad it is."
Robin Koch (FC Kaiserslautern): "It was a very physical game, the atmosphere was amazing and we knew it wouldn't be easy in front of a crowd like that. Both teams gave their all and I think it was important that we kept a clean sheet and picked up a point. It's obviously disappointing to miss a penalty, it's a very different game if it goes in, but at the Millerntor situations like that are just different."
