LIENEN: "LOT OF WORK AHEAD OF US"

After the warm-up game against VfL Osnabrück we spoke to head coaches Joe Enochs and Ewald Lienen and new recruits Lennart Thy and Johannes Flum about the 120 minutes. Here's what they had to say.
Ewald Lienen: "There's a lot of work ahead of us. We can't be happy with our showing but now we know what we need to work on and which buttons we have to press. We had some decent moments in attack but lacked the final punch. Johannes Flum needs a bit more time, as we knew. It would have been a miracle if everything had worked perfectly today. That's why we've got the training camp."
Lennart Thy: "We've been able to try a few things out today, though I have to say it went better in training. The task now is to analyse the individual sequences to see where we need to iron out mistakes and improve our processes. We gave away too much at the back and we need to be more alert, especially at set pieces. We'll use the time at training camp to gel as a team and develop a clear plan for the games to come."
Johannes Flum: "It wasn't a good performance today. I was looking forward to it, so it's even more annoying that it didn't work out. I'm disappointed with my performance and I know we can do better. We've only trained once in this formation, though, and we have to get to know each other better. Each player needs to know the mentality of the other. We have to fine tune things and work the patterns better."
Joe Enochs (VfL Osnabrück): "We had a lot of good moves in the first half and went in front from a set piece. We also gave the ball away a few times, though, but St. Pauli were unable to capitalise. In general, I'm pleased with my team's performance but we won't be reading too much into the result even though we're delighted to have won."
