Rasmussen joins Rosenborg

Jacob Rasmussen has left FC St. Pauli at his own request to join Norwegian top-division side Rosenborg BK.

Rasmussen arrived at the Millerntor from FC Schalke 04 Under-19s in summer 2016 and was named in the first-team squad on two occasions without making an appearance. The 19-year-old defender made 17 appearances for the Under-23s in the Regionalliga Nord, scoring one goal.

What they said

Head coach Ewald Lienen: "Jacob is a talented player but he has strong competition in his position. In the current situation it's going to be difficult for him to make the breakthrough, so I can understand his desire to join another club."

Jacob Rasmussen: "It was my express wish to move to Trondheim, as I don't see any chance of getting enough playing time in my position. I'm grateful to St. Pauli for not placing any obstacles in my way and I'll keep my fingers crossed in Norway that the team can avoid the drop."

Jacob Rasmussen said farewell to the coaching staff and the players before jetting off to in Trondheim.
