JAHN REGENSBURG FACT FILE

Following the third international break of the season and the 3-1 friendly win over Odense BK the Boys in Brown return to second division action on Sunday (kick-off: 1330 CET) when SSV Jahn Regensburg visit the Millerntor. As usual, we've run the rule over the promoted outfit and pulled together a few facts and figures.

Five wins already

Regensburg made their second division bow in the 2003/04 season, lasting just one year at that level. They returned to Bundesliga 2 in 2012, only to go straight back down after finishing bottom of the table with just 19 points and a goal difference of -29. This term Regensburg have already registered five wins from 13 games, one more than they managed in the whole of that season.

Win or lose

Regensburg are the only team in the league yet to draw a game, winning five and losing eight of their first 13 games for a total of 15 points and 13th place in the table. Achim Beierlorzer's side picked up two important wins going into the international break, beating Kaiserslautern 3-1 and Greuther Fürth 3-2.

Tight budget

With a market value of just 8.4 million euros (source: transfermarkt.de), Regensburg have the least expensive squad in the division by some distance. The teams immediately above them in this ranking, Greuther Fürth (15.6 million), VfL Bochum (16.1 million) and Dynamo Dresden (17.1 million) have player assets worth around twice this amount. Incredibly enough, Regensburg still have 12 players in their squad who played for them in the fourth tier in 2015/16.

Evergreen

Right-back Oliver Hein has already racked up 200 appearances for Regensburg and is still only 27. Hein joined the club's Under-19 side from FC Dingolfing in 2009. In the eight seasons since he has been promoted three times, relegated twice and played in three different divisions. Hein is second in terms of appearances made for the club, with only Stefan Binder ahead of him on 254.

Combative duo

Marvin Knoll and Sebastian Nachreiner have been the most combative players for Regensburg this season. With 65.3 per cent of duels won, Knoll is eighth in the league, while Nachreiner is 13th on 62 per cent. In comparison, Lasse Sobiech tops the league rankings with 71.9 per cent and Christopher Avevor is fifth on 67.5 per cent.

Back-to-back promotions

After being relegated to the fourth tier in 2015 Regensburg were promoted twice in successive seasons to return to Bundesliga 2. Former coach Heiko Herrlich guided them straight back to League 3 in 2016 and then saw off 1860 Munich in the relegation/promotion play-off last season. On the back of this success Herrlich moved to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. He was replaced by Achim Beierlorzer.
