St. Pauli make changes on the football management side.
St. Pauli have responded to the dismissal of director of sport Thomas Meggle and placed Andreas Rettig in temporary charge until the end of the season. "We have asked Andreas Rettig to take on the role of director of sport in addition to his existing duties," said club chairman Oke Göttlich. "It was the solution that made the most sense to us, both from the commercial and the footballing point of view, especially when you bear in mind that Andreas has demonstrated that he can be successful in the sporting director role at his previous clubs."
The Boys in Brown have also reinforced Ewald Lienen's coaching team by bringing Olaf Janssen to the Millerntor in the role of assistant coach. "We have decided, in full agreement with Ewald Lienen and on his recommendation, to strengthen the coaching team," said Göttlich. "In Olaf Janssen we gain an experienced and proven professional who enjoys an excellent reputation in the game."
Janssen joins the club from VfB Stuttgart, where he worked as assistant coach. The former Stuttgart player also had two games in charge of the first team while there.
