Risch appointed assistant coach and match analyst

The Boys in Brown have strengthened their coaching team with the addition of Thomas Risch as assistant coach and match analyst from next season. Risch arrives from the RB Leipzig youth academy, where he had worked in various roles since 2010.

Risch initially served as Under-17 assistant coach and scout and as a technical coach to the second team. In 2014, his area of responsibility switched to video analysis, with a focus on set pieces.

Reaction to the deal

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "We're delighted to have Thomas on board as a specialist match analyst. We've also taken the reorganisation of our coaching team as an opportunity to redefine the responsibilities and job descriptions to a certain degree, which means Thomas will be actively involved in coaching as well."

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "Although Thomas and I never worked with each other direct at Leipzig, we know each other well and have exchanged ideas on a regular basis in recent years. I really value his expertise and am delighted he'll be bringing it to the team in future."

Thomas Risch: "I know Alex and his way of working from our time at Leipzig, which is why I didn't have to think twice about joining his coaching team. I'm looking forward to my new role at an exciting club in a beautiful city."
