FC St. Pauli and Cenk Sahin are going separate ways temporarily. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has joined league rivals FC Ingolstadt on loan until the end of the season.

"Cenk has strong competition in his position and it's difficult for him to establish himself at the moment. Before Christmas he came and told us he wasn't satisfied with the situation," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "We agreed to Cenk's request for a loan move to give him a bit more courage and confidence. We believe it's the best solution for both sides."

Sahin, who joined the club at the start of the 2016/17 season, initially on loan and then on a permanent deal, has made 61 competitive appearances for the club to date (57 league, 4 DFB Cup), scoring six goals and providing nine assists.
