Central defender Clemens Schoppenhauer has left the Boys in Brown to join third-division outfit VfR Aalen with immediate effect.

"Although the situation was not satisfactory for him personally, Clemens Schoppenhauer conducted himself impeccably during his 18 months at the Millerntor," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "He integrated in the group very well and never let his head drop in training. In his appearances for the Under-23s he was a leader on the field and showed his flawless character. This is another reason why we agreed to an immediate switch. We would like to wish Clemens all the best."

Schoppenhauer said: "My time at FC St. Pauli has been very instructive, even though it wasn't characterised by the greatest of personal success at first glance. I will retain very fond memories of the club and the people I had the privilege of getting to know."

Schoppenhauer made two senior appearances for the club and played 14 times for the Under-23s.

So long, Schoppe! All the best!
