St. Pauli sign Erik Ahlstrand

FC St. Pauli have bolstered their strikeforce with the addition of Erik Ahlstrand. The 22-year-old attacking player, who recently made his international debut for Sweden, moves to the Millerntor from Halmstads BK.

Ahlstrand is a versatile and flexible attacking player who made his Sweden debut on 12 January. He made 47 appearances for Halmstads BK in the Swedish top division, the Allsvenskan, scoring three goals and making another five. He also played 78 times in the second Swedish tier as well featuring in youth leagues and for the Sweden Under-20 side. In total, he has already made 130 appearances as a professional.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Erik has an exciting profile and all in all is an excellent fit for our playing philosophy. He combines footballing quality with pace, creativity, dependability, intensity, and desire. We're convinced that Erik will add to our attacking options and still has room for potential."

Head coach Fabian Hürzeler: "Erik is excellent in attacking one-on-ones and a good passer of the ball. He also works hard to win back and press the ball. Pace, above-average distance covered, and an outstanding number of sprints are what make him stand out. He also impresses with his exceptionally positive and professional attitude."

Erik Ahlstrand: "St. Pauli have a very good reputation for young, ambitious players who want to take the next step. The talks with the officials, the playing philosophy, and the footballing perspectives convinced me. Moving abroad is a big step for me, so it's particularly important to find the right club. I gathered information on St. Pauli in advance, of course, and am looking forward to running out at the Millerntor as soon as possible."
